Emily Mitchell has flown under the radar this whole season, but after her latest performance the secret is out. The Highlanders senior point guard had 18 points and Granada Hills defeated El Camino Real at home 58-29.

The win gave Granada Hills (19-4, 5-0) its sixth consecutive win and control of the West Valley League.

Mitchell was aggressive from the very beginning on both offense and defense. Mitchell made two 3-pointers and limited El Camino Real’s Kianna Fisher-Hamilton who is signed with Long Beach State to only six points.

The win tonight showed Granada Hills is indeed one of the most complete teams in City Section. Sarah Miranda added 14 points and Hayley Berfield had nine.

El Camino Real (16-8, 4-1) will have its shot at redemption when the two teams square off on Feb. 9 in Woodland Hills.
